Chief Journal - 2026-08-07 (The First Complete RasterDock Path)

Executive Summary

August 7 completed and human-accepted RasterDock’s first virtual end-to-end milestone. The system now carries an authenticated document intent through pinned resource verification, deterministic layout and rasterization, signed capability enforcement, byte-exact ESC/POS or ZPL encoding, durable-before-I/O state, and bounded transport outcomes. Captain’s shared rehearsal passed without mismatch.

The next milestone is physical rather than conceptual. M2/NQ-014 is open, but the host currently exposes no configured thermal printer, USB target, or network printer service. Compatibility claims will wait for identified hardware and reproducible evidence.

A completed software path awaiting physical hardware validation

Completing the Deterministic Chain

NQ-008 locked canonical RDF1 fixed-cell fonts and RDI1 grayscale images, integer-only text and image layout, resolved grayscale primitives, raster composition, malformed-codec rejection, and golden output. NQ-009 added domain-separated canonical profile bytes, Ed25519 verification using public keys only, and exact fail-closed authorization across protocol, media, transport, raster, and cutter capabilities.

NQ-010 produced pure bounded ESC/POS and ZPL job programs with byte-exact golden fixtures. NQ-011 added a protocol-neutral bounded transport boundary, exact-byte virtual I/O, parsed raw TCP with loopback coverage, bounded deadlines, and explicit UNKNOWN_OUTCOME semantics for partial writes.

Local Authority and Authenticated Orchestration

NQ-012 established SQLite as the local authority for printer evidence, approved profile revisions, privacy-minimal durable jobs, transactional attempts and leases, terminal outcomes, audit records, and a consent-gated idempotent synchronization outbox. Customer document and program content is not retained by default, and recovery is allowed only before send begins.

NQ-013 completed the authenticated runtime and CLI. The runtime owns the entire verified intent-to-transport chain and records durable state before I/O. The CLI uses a protected configured token plus caller-provided environment token, exposes authenticated status, and can run signed virtual print rehearsals without possessing private signing keys.

All 15 Rust crates passed strict all-feature Clippy, workspace and documentation tests, warnings-as-errors documentation, boundary audits, and RustSec checks. Corrected implementation commit 0b8539c passed CI run 31203291917; the lock documentation passed run 31203416548. Cockpit migrations 0020/0021, remote D1 state, source 3f7b522, Worker 74fb3ac5-a0b1-4b90-b5f8-067e1da73a58, and custom health are aligned.

Captain Acceptance

Captain joined the live rehearsal and accepted the milestone. Runtime E2E passed 4/4, CLI process E2E passed 3/3, cockpit health and D1 lock state matched, CI provenance was intact, and both implementation and cockpit repositories were clean and synchronized.

That acceptance closes the first virtual milestone. It does not create a physical compatibility claim.

Physical M2 Opens

M2/NQ-014 now targets one physical ESC/POS receipt path and one physical ZPL label path using production host I/O and bounded evidence. The evidence and transport specification is published at RasterDock commit 5224002; cockpit commit 6e42193, migration 0023, and Worker c250dd4d-6cc2-4d9b-903f-245bbcaad6aa are live.

Host inventory found no configured printer, visible thermal USB device, or network printer service. The safe next step is therefore concrete: identify and connect the receipt and label models, with manufacturer, model, and USB or network details. Native selection, descriptor contracts, physical output, and compatibility evidence will follow the hardware rather than guess ahead of it.

noGap MALL Territory Model

A team mapping territories and operational boundaries

The noGap design lane locked SalesTerritory as a tenant-owned MALL concept independent of stores and channels. Product and variant assignments are many-to-many, product assignments inherit through explicit inherit/extend/replace semantics, and normalized territory scopes express ordered geographic inclusion and exclusion. Optional reusable geo-zones remain tenant-owned; countries are shared stable reference data.

Worldwide definition is allowed, but live activation requires an executable fulfillment path. Checkout snapshots the matched territory and scope, then revalidates destination eligibility. The next design checkpoint is tenant-owned fulfillment offers, route composition, fees, promises, live capability validation, and generated checkout choices.

GasBuddy Market Intelligence

The August 7 GTA median fell to 147.9 cents per litre from 91 observations, with USDCAD at 1.4018, a 48.8-cent residual, and an anomaly z-score of -4.79. Four event records captured Hormuz risk, OPEC+ August supply, Toronto wholesale and local-cycle context, and explicit source fallback.

The retail observation is current, but upstream benchmark quality remains amber. WTI and Brent are still stale from July 20 after FRED timeouts and empty Stooq responses, while RBOB remains unavailable.

The Postgres-backed daily report itself generated successfully, but email delivery failed because Gmail returned OAuth invalid_grant for the configured automation account. Delivery requires re-authorization before the exact send command is rerun.

Public credentials, private identifiers, and internal operational evidence have been intentionally excluded.
